Families gearing up for their next holiday with airlines like EasyJet, Ryanair, and Jet2 have been given some advice to cut costs on their flight bookings. Andrew Harrison-Chinn, CMO at , an airport services app, has highlighted that now is the prime time to lock in your travel arrangements, warning that fares may climb later in the year due to economic shifts. On the topic of when to book flights, he says: "Booking flights in advance remains one of the best ways to save.
" Mr Harrison-Chinn suggests securing domestic flights between one and three months early, while international trips should be booked three to five months in advance. The choice of departure day is another aspect to consider for budget-conscious travellers. Mr Harrison-Chinn's guidance includes: "Flying on certain days can also help reduce costs.
Midweek flights - particularly on Wednesdays and Saturdays - are often the most affordable for international journeys, while Tuesdays and Fridays tend to offer the best value for domestic flights." Ticket prices may also be lower if you're flexible enough to fly during off-peak hours, such as early mornings or late nights. You can also use online tools and searching methods to find the cheapest available tickets.
Mr Harrison-Chinn explained: "Setting up price alerts using tools like Google Flights or Kayak is a smart way to track fare fluctuations and book when prices drop. "You might also try browsing in incognito mode or clearing your cookies - some travellers believe this can prevent dynamic pricing based on search history, though results can vary." The travel expert also highlighted how technology such as VPNs can help in finding low-price fares.
He said: "Using a VPN to check fares from different locations can sometimes reveal lower prices, as airlines and booking sites occasionally adjust rates based on your geographic region." He further urged families to tap into and loyalty benefits and rewards they may be entitled to, which could offer perks including airport lounge access and fast-tracked security checks. If you have very specific travel plans, Mr Harrison-Chinn recommends using AI-based travel aggregators.
And for luxury getaway seekers, you can get exclusive offers on high-end holidays on bespoke deal websites such as Voyage Privé. Before setting off on your travels, it might be a good decision to get an eSim to avoid sky-high phone bills when overseas. The expert said: "If Wi-Fi isn't readily available, using an eSIM can significantly reduce roaming charges and keep you connected without the hefty fees.
By combining smart planning with the right perks and tools, you can make your holiday budget go further - without compromising on comfort or experience.".
