Bradley Caslin /iStock Editorial via Getty Images Ryanair ( NASDAQ: RYAAY ) is confident that under the management of Boeing ( BA ) COO Stephanie Pope, the backlog of Boeing ( BA ) aircraft will be resolved over the next 12 months, while the absence of significant deliveries over the next 2 years will free up cash to give €700M back to shareholders . “We have agreed to take deliveries of Boeing 737 aircraft through the summer months of July, August, and September, and we hope that Boeing will deliver all 59 aircraft before the end of 2024,” CEO Michael O’Leary said in the company's annual report . While Boeing ( BA ) continues to work through its production delays, the shortage of approximately 20 aircraft for Ryanair ( RYAAY ) forced the carrier to cut its traffic target in FY25 to 200M from 205M.

Exceeding the 200M target, however, will make Ryanair ( RYAAY ) the first European airline to carry more than 200M passengers in one year. And despite numerous challenges in fiscal 2024 that included the Boeing snafu, French strikes, the war in Ukraine, and the Israel-Hamas conflict, all of which limited traffic from a target of 185M to 183.7M, the company still managed to grow traffic by 9% and net cash nearly tripled to €1.
