Martha Stewart’s remarks that Ryan Reynolds is “not so funny” took the actor aback — mainly because he’s allegedly only met her once or twice. Stewart, 83, confessed that while Reynolds, 48, is a “good” and “funny” actor, his real-life persona is “very serious.” She acted like she’d know, considering they are neighbors.
However, that’s reportedly not the case. A source told TMZ that the “Deadpool & Wolverine” actor doesn’t even know Stewart very well, claiming the pair have only met two times at best. The outlet alleged that Reynolds and the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia founder chatted “very briefly” at one or two parties over the years, with the insider pointing out their interaction was hardly enough time to grasp one’s personality.
Blake Lively’s husband has been open about his struggle with anxiety ; as the source mentioned, Reynolds shuts down in front of people at times. In fact, he enjoys being quiet more than being “on” all the time. The legendary TV homemaker dished her perception on the “Green Lantern” star while appearing as a special guest on Bilt Rewards ’ November “Rent Free” game show.
When Bilt’s CEO Ankur Jain, 34, asked her which celebrities those surveyed believed she’d pick as the most fun to spend time with, she replied that her cooking show partner Snoop Dogg was probably ranked high on the list. Stewart also guessed that Reynolds would likely be a pick; however, she didn’t seem enthused about the idea. “He’s probably on the list just ‘cause he covers himself up in his movies and you don’t see his face — Ryan Reynolds, is he one of those?” she asked.
“And you want to know something? He’s not so funny in real life ,” Stewart continued. “No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious.
” She later removed Reynolds from the list after deciding her top pick was Taylor Swift. “Then I would take Ryan off it, and I would put in somebody else,” the cookbook author quipped. When Jain pressed her about the Reynolds not funny comment , Stewart elaborated.
“He’s a good actor,” she explained. “He can act funny, but he isn’t funny. Maybe he can get to be funny again.
” Likely realizing her foot-in-mouth moment, she added, “I’m going to get in trouble. He’s my neighbor.” Reynolds took a playful jab on social media after he learned of Stewart’s remarks.
“I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry.
She really closed the gap after a mile or so,” he wrote on X. His best buddy Hugh Jackman also put in his two cents with a cheeky comment. “Finally someone says it,” he joked.
Reynolds has addressed his anxiety and mental health in the past. “I’ve had anxiety my whole life really. And you know, I feel like I have two parts of my personality, that one takes over when that happens,” the actor shared in 2022 on “CBS Sunday Mornings.
” He also spoke to Page Six in an exclusive interview , revealing how nervous he’d be before any live appearance. “I remember I’d be standing backstage before the curtain would open, and I would think to myself, ‘I’m gonna die. I’m literally gonna die here,” he confessed in October 2023.
“The curtain’s gonna open and ...
I’m just gonna be a symphony of vomit — just, like, something horrible’s gonna happen!” Reynolds said..
