Ukraine launched a drone attack against Russia on Saturday, December 21, striking many residential high-rise buildings in Kazan. According to media reports, Kamikaze drones were used in the operation. In what some users have called a 9/11-style attack, a video of the incident that was allegedly captured by eyewitnesses shows the drones striking a residential building directly.

December 21, 2024 According to TASS, emergency services arrived at the scene of the occurrences after the attack. No casualties have been recorded as of yet, but residents are being evacuated from the impacted building. On its own Telegram channel, the Russian Defence Ministry reported earlier Saturday that one “Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the Republic of Tatarstan,” whose capital is Kazan, had been shot down by its air defences.

The city government later cited the remarks. Putin has already called for Ukraine to acknowledge Russia's victories and withdraw its bid to join NATO. But those demands have been turned down by Kyiv and the West.

Ukrainian drones have been intercepted numerous times over Moscow and other Russian regions since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in February 2022. Only a small number of UAVs have succeeded in reaching the target, nevertheless. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated earlier Thursday that if he and US President-elect Donald Trump had any discussions about ending the war, Russia would be willing to make concessions on Ukraine.

He went on to say he had no requirements for initiating negotiations with the Ukrainian government..
