- Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz has arrived in Astana on official visit, where he was met by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Akorda reported. After a solemn ceremony of meeting, the sides started talks. President Tokayev at the meeting said that Russia is a military invincible.

"The fact is that Russia is military invincible. A further escalation of war will lead to irreparable consequences for all humanity and, above all, for all countries directly involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict," the President said. He noted that a good chance of achieving at least a ceasefire was lost by refusing to conclude the Istanbul agreement, but this does not mean that there is no possibility of peace.

"It’s necessary to carefully consider all the peace initiatives of various states and come to a decision to stop military actions, and then move on to discuss territorial issues. In our opinion, the peace plan of China and Brazil deserves support," Tokayev noted. Tokayev also added that Kazakhstan and Russia are developing cooperation within the framework of strategic partnership and alliance and Kazakhstan treats the Ukrainian people with a "genuine sympathy".

China and Brazil in May presented a plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, with the first item being a cessation of hostilities. The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that 26 countries supported the plan. The Ukrainian authorities rejected it.

According to La Repubblica, Scholz is preparing his peace plan, which does not exclude the transfer of parts of former Ukrainian territories to Russia..
