Wilson signed for an extremely team-friendly contract with the Steelers paying their starting quarterback just $1.2 million in what can only be described as a low-risk, high-reward move. Pittsburgh had brought Wilson in early after his release from the Broncos, with that being the reason that he decided to take the deal for as low as what he was offered.

Wilson is also set to receiver a guaranteed $39 million from the Broncos after they released him just two years into a five-year deal. They will also pay Wilson $32 million in 2025, where he will also be a free agent. Having already made over $266 million in his NFL career, Wilson could earn a final multi-year deal with Pittsburgh should he impress on his one-year deal.

While Russell Wilson is on his fourth contract in the NFL, Fields remains on his first after signing his rookie deal as a first-round pick in 2021. At the time, Fields signed a four-year, $18.8 million contract with the Bears where he spent three years before being traded to the Steelers this offseason to compete with Wilson.

In 2024, he will make around $3.23 million before being set to become a free agent after the Steelers refused to pick up his fifth-year option which would have seen him make $25 million in 2025. Instead, he'll have to wait for his opportunity behind Wilson, with fans likely to be on the the veteran's back and asking for Fields should he struggle early on in the season.
