Rural kids innovate solutions to daily life problems

Surat: A two-day display of 126 projects made by students of class 6 to 10 under the Young Science Leader (YSL) Program was held at KVS Ground in Kharel of Navsari district on Dec 20 and Dec 21. YSL was organised by Larsen and Toubro Public Charitable Trust (LTPCT), and this year it received 1,100 concept papers from students of class 6 to 10 of Navsari, Dang, and Surat districts. After screening, 150 concept papers were selected and the students were asked to develop working models of their concepts.

L&T engineers helped the students in developing the models. Of these 150 models, 126 were put up on display. On Friday, director of Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad, Nilesh Desai, inaugurated the YSL event in the presence of Anil Parab, AVP, L&T, Hazira.



Over 5,000 schoolchildren from Dang, Navsari, and Surat districts visited the exhibition. On Saturday, the best projects were awarded. ISRO officials put up satellite models on display at the event as part of their ‘Space on Wheels' project.
