Rupali Ganguly's birthday turns controversial with step daughter Esha Verma’s ‘cheers to the antagonist’ post, deletes later

On Rupali Ganguly’s 48th birthday, the Anupamaa actress found herself at the centre of a controversial Instagram post from her stepdaughter, Esha Verma. Esha, who has been involved in a long-standing feud with Rupali, took to social media to mark the occasion with a scathing tribute. Rather than celebrating her stepmother, Esha referred to her as the ‘antagonist’ in her life’s story, continuing their public dispute.

This came amid the ongoing drama, where Esha had previously accused Rupali of causing the breakdown of her parents’ marriage and mistreating both her and her mother. Following these serious allegations, Rupali filed a defamation suit against Esha. In her birthday post, Esha did not directly name Rupali, but the message was unmistakable.

Some birthdays deserve a toast- even if it’s to the villain," Esha wrote. She went on to add, "Cheers to the antagonist of the story." The accompanying image in the post depicted Snow White at the centre, with the Evil Queen offering her the cursed apple — an obvious reference to the dynamic between the two.

Although Esha later deleted the post, the image and her words were widely circulated, intensifying the ongoing rift between the two. The feud between Rupali and Esha began when an old 2020 post from Esha resurfaced, in which she made serious allegations against Rupali, accusing her of being responsible for the dissolution of her father Ashwin K Verma's previous marriage. Esha also claimed that Rupali had been verbally, mentally, and physically abusive towards her and her mother.

And people are starting to see the truth." Esha, who resides in the United States, is the daughter of Ashwin and his former wife, Sapna Verma. Meanwhile, Rupali and Ashwin are parents to a son named Rudransh.
