Runrummer soars on potent new album ‘Elevator’. Out now, it’s the debut album from the Midlands talent, and represents the end point of a lengthy journey. Musical from a young age, lockdown truly saw Runrummer accelerate, gaining numerous plaudits as the world opened up to her songwriting.
Witty alt-pop with lashings of colour, she (virtually) opened the BBC Introducing Stage at 2020’s Radio 1’s Big Weekend. Hailing from Bromsgrove, on the outskirts of Birmingham, there’s a small-town charm to Runrummer’s work. Scooping a PRS ‘Women Make Music’ award, debut album ‘Elevator’ finds the singer moving with palpable confidence.
Walking her own path, ‘Elevator’ acts as an ode to youth – it’s about growing up, making mistakes, and the hard-earned lessons you receive on the way. Recent single ‘Honey Friend’ was the final song to be previewed from the record, and it taps into broader themes on the LP. Runrummer comments.
.. ‘Honey Friend’ is a love letter to secret attraction.
When you start to feel your emotions develop for a close friend but you’re not sure if they feel the same way. You really want to act on your desires but you don’t want to ruin the relationship at the same time. Tune in now.
