Pune: NCP (SCP) state president Jayant Patil on Sunday declared that ruling parties have failed to resolve problems like traffic and increasing crime in the city. Speaking at the rally organised in Hadapsar for party candidate Prashant Jagtap, Patil said, "How will those, who could not even deal with the ‘koyta gang' in Pune, be able to maintain law and order of the whole state?" Patil earlier in the day also held a rally in Parvati for party candidate Ashwini Kadam. At the Hadapsar event, Patil also said that industries have left Hinjewadi due to traffic problems.
"The same traffic congestion issues are rising in areas like Kharadi and Hadapsar. Companies here too are facing these hassles. It is hampering the lives of commuters.
They get stuck in snarls for hours. Those at the helm of affairs of the city and state have no solution," he said. Patil said important projects like ring roads in Pune are stuck at the tendering stage due to the lack of interest of some leaders of ruling parties.
As per Patil, the identity of Pune as an education hub is also being tarnished by drug rackets unearthed in the city. "Illegal drug rackets are operating from state-run medical facilities like Sassoon hospital. It is an alarming situation for the state's law and order," he alleged.
The senior NCP (SCP) functionary also said youngsters are facing problems like unemployment as industries are going away from Maharashtra. "It has led to loss of opportunities for job seekers in the state. Many projects that went away from Maharashtra went to Gujarat.
Maharashtra's current chief minister and deputy CMs are raising no questions under the pressure of the Centre. The state's per capita income was much higher a few years ago. It has gone drastically down.
The state now ranks at 11th position. The BJP here, controlled by Delhi, and the govt led by Eknath Shinde are responsible for this decline," he said. Patil added, "Inflation has increased drastically, making it tough for common citizens to deal with day-to-day expenses.
People are burdened by GST. The monthly budget of a normal household has collapsed." According to Patil, BJP and its leaders are "propagating a false narrative about the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj".
He said, "The statue of Shivaji Maharaj has not been built in the Arabian Sea as promised by BJP. Substandard work on such a statue in Malvan led to a mishap after which the statue fell down. Mahayuti is promising many initiatives and schemes in its manifesto — but they are hollow promises.
That alliance is making undue promises in fear due to its failure in the Lok Sabha election. MVA defeated Mahayuti in those polls and will repeat the act in the upcoming state assembly election.".
