Manchester United’s performance against Newcastle was nothing to write home about but one player had the ultimate vindication as he got Roy Keane to praise him unconditionally!Ruben Amorim could have hardly asked for a worse lead-in to the biggest game of the season in the Europa League as Man Utd lost 1-4 to Newcastle. It was a game that would give Man Utd fans deja vu, as individual mistakes ruled the roost, leaving the club staring down the barrel. However, one player caught the eye of Roy Keane even in difficult circumstances for his ‘brilliant’ moment that showed the transformation of the ‘weakest’ art of his game.

However, Keane is always brutally honest which was on full display after this loss as well, as he called out Amorim for being ‘shocked’ at the level of English football. He didn’t leave the players either, as he called them mentally weak, but one player didn’t just escape this criticism, he earned praise.

Talking through the footage of United’s equaliser in the first half, Keane sang praises of Alejandro Garnacho, the scorer of that goal. He said: “Garnacho, which [end product] is probably one of his weakest parts of his game, I have no complaints there. “Takes a lovely touch with his right foot, comes on to his left, and a beautiful finish.

He needs to do more of that. We saw a lovely composure and United back in the game. Absolutely brilliant.

”Alejandro Garnacho needs to keep this level upGarnacho deserved all the praise for his finish but that is also where the Man Utd fans’ frustration lies, in the sense that he just can’t do it consistently. The Argentine might still be extremely young but he’s basically veteran in the amount of football he has played since his breakout. There is an unnerving feeling that he’s still the one-dimensional player that he was when he broke out despite having more than a hundred appearances under his belt.

His decision-making and finishing leave a lot to be desired, both jumps needed to launch him from the “wonderkid” pantheon to “world-class”. Fans will hope that this goal is the start of a streak for him as he hones his finishing touch because in a team struggling for goals, they need their main outlet to be clinical..
