He reached the milestone by earning $338,000 for finishing in a four-way tie for fifth at last week’s Houston Open.Only Tiger Woods, who currently stands on $120m in earnings with 82 wins in 378 events, surpassed the figure before him.Woods, 49, hit $100m back in 2012.

“I still feel like I’ve got some stuff to work on. I still don’t think my game is absolutely 100% under the control I would want.“I’ve got my coach, Michael Bannon, coming in so we’ll be working at home and making sure the game feels good going into The Masters.

”McIlroy has won three of the four majors, but the last of those triumphs came over a decade ago at the 2014 Open Championship. This year, he will again attempt to become just the sixth player to complete a career Grand Slam of all four at The Masters.McIlroy’s last major title was the 2014 PGA Championship, over a decade agoGettyHe has won twice on the PGA Tour already this season, finishing top of the leaderboard at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, while he also won the Players Championship after a playoff against J.

J. Spaun.Sir Nick Faldo, who won The Masters three times, believes this could be the year McIlroy finally secures the glory at Augusta that has eluded him to date.

“History’s not great,” Faldo told the Sky Sports Golf podcast.“I think only Tiger Woods and Ben Crenshaw have gone 11 years between two majors in about the last 40 years. He has to forget that, and he’s got to rewrite some of those things.

“He’s 35, playing great. Can he just go to Augusta and absolutely clear all the pictures out from the past?“It’s way easier said than done, but he could do it and I’ve got a feeling he might.”.
