One of the most legendary contemporary footballers (besides Lionel Messi), the Portugal captain and Al Nassr forward posted what’s the best start to the day. “A healthy breakfast,” quipped the soccer great. The 39-year-old former Real Madrid and Manchester United star then dubbed Herbalife Formula 1 as one.

The formulation for the contentious MLM company’s product allegedly has a “balanced mix of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.” The post garnered much online backlash and aptly got ‘community noted.” The community note on Ronaldo’s tweet stated that Herbalife is a multilevel marketing corporation and the star is being paid for its promotion, which he should have remarked as an “ad” on the post, per X policies.

Netizens took a dig at the man who earlier in June 2021, during a post-match interview, famously removed Coca-Cola bottles displayed in front of him and said ‘Agua’ (Portuguese for water), endorsing H20 as the ultimate natural drink. The gentle swipe wiped $4 billion off Coke’s coffers . So what changed now? A good way to start the day? A healthy breakfast.

twitter.com/SJ3xWnnbfx — Sandeep Hegde (@SandeepHegde) November 8, 2024 Amid all the responses slamming Cristiano Ronaldo, X/Twitter’s most vocal medical critic, Dr. Cryiac Abby Phillips, aka ‘the liver doc,’ who previously schooled prominent celebs like Samnatha Ruth Prabhu, Nayanthara, and others for spreading health misinformation by promoting pseudo-scientific products, posted a brief myth-buster on Herbalife as a healthy breakfast.

The liver specialist remarked that, of course, the better way to start a day is with a healthy breakfast, BUT, the docfluencer warned that it is definitely not Herbalife. He stated that there are far better protein supplements on the market. The doctor further alleged that the company manufactures low-quality mixed protein from pea and soy, which is further adulterated with other dangerous botanicals.

Dr. Abby slammed the company for charging consumers “like they are selling Swarovski diamonds.” He added in the next paragraph of the post that Herbalife products are infamously associated with liver injury and liver failure cases.

“When it comes to harming consumers,” the doctor quipped, “no other BS company has come closer.” The Liver Doc also added news links attesting to his claims. He further slammed Ronaldo for spreading misinformation, stating that often people we place high on a high pedestal don't care about ethics and morality, especially when it comes to healthcare, “when money talks.

” A good way to start the day? A healthy breakfast. No doubt. But Herbalife has no role in it.
