October 6, 1940 - April 4, 2025 Ronald Gary Morrison, 84, of Illinois City, passed away peacefully Friday April 4, 2025 at Mercer Manor, Aledo. Visitation will be Wednesday April 9, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m.
, with a Masonic Service at 6 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.
Private burial will be in Illinois City Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Illinois City Cemetery Association. Ron was born on October 6, 1940 the son of Lyle and Dorothy (Wylie) Morrison of Reynolds.
Ron was in the first graduating class of Rockridge High School in 1958. He later married Jackie Owen on May 27, 1961. Mr.
Morrison had been employed for 36 years with Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Company. He was a member of the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge for 50 years, a volunteer firefighter with Illinois City Fire Department for 30 years and over saw operations of Illinois City Cemetery for 53 years. He also spent many years coaching and mentoring grade school baseball and basketball.
Some of Ron's most precious accomplishments was making memories with his beloved wife Jackie, his family and friends at their cabin in Chetek, Wisconsin. Ron loved the outdoors, gardening, trapping, fishing, and hunting. Ron will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Jackie; sons, Keith (Cindy), Terry (Andrea); grandkids, Karley, Kayla (Tim) and Nick; brothers, Steve (Teresa) and Dave (Cherry).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Dorothy; oldest son, Gary Scott Morrison; and grandson, Evan "E-Man" Morrison. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com .
