Virat Kohli got out for just 17 runs in the second innings of the 1st Test India vs Bangladesh Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium when he was trapped in front late on Day 2 by off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Virat Kohli seemed to have missed a straighter one from Miraz, as he tried to play the fuller delivery toward square but closed the face of the bat a tad bit early. A visibly disappointed Kohli (on missing the shot) went up to his batting partner Shubman Gill after umpire Richard Kettleborough raised his fingers.

Kohli asked Gill whether it was straight and Gill replied with a yes; and despite India having all their reviews in tact, Kohli opted not to review the decision. Gill could be seen asking Kohli to take the review, but the former India captain was well on his way. Kohli was not out.

While watching the replays from the dressing room skipper Rohit Sharma looked in disbelief.

Gill, upon seeing the review, grimaced while the umpire Kettleborough gave away a cheeky grin. It was clearly not out. This is so frustrating to see.

The hosts were 81-3 at stumps in their second innings on day two in Chennai.

Shubman Gill, on 33, and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, on 12, were batting at close of play. Bangladesh were dismissed in the final session with former skipper Shakib Al Hasan top-scoring on 32 in their reply to India’s first-innings total of 376. The hosts did not enforce the follow-on, deciding instead to build on their lead of 227.

Ravichandran Ashwin had given Bangladesh a challenging total with his 113 in a marathon 199-run seventh-wicket stand with Ravindra Jadeja..
