In a surprise update three years after it came out, Rockstar Games has issued a surprise massive update for its 2021 “Grand Theft Auto: Definitive Edition” Trilogy today. The title – a compilation of 2001’s “Grand Theft Auto 3,” 2002’s “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City,” and 2004’s “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” – was infamously slammed by reviewers and fans upon launch on PC and console for its broken and poor quality. Then, in December last year, mobile versions of the title came out to critical acclaim with those versions fixing multiple issues of the PC & console ones including lighting, volumetric clouds, shadows, reflections, and draw distance as well as other problems related to gameplay.
Those ports also included a new classic lighting mode “that restores the look and feel of the sky in the original games.” Now it seems all the improvements from that port have been brought over to the PC & console versions. One key difference with the update is that Grove Street Games, original developer of the remaster, is no longer listed in-game.
The mobile versions were developed by Australian studio Video Games Deluxe. The news comes as the original “Red Dead Redemption” recently launched on PC after many years of waiting, while Rockstar is readying “Grand Theft Auto VI” for release next Fall. Source:.
