Teddi Mellencamp is sharing what it’s like living with stage 4 cancer, and responded directly to a fan who labeled her diagnosis a death sentence.

Teddi Mellencamp is opening up about her ongoing fight with stage 4 melanoma while making it clear she’s not giving up hope, even when others make assumptions about her prognosis. The 42-year-old podcast host and former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member recently revealed that doctors found four new tumors in her brain. It’s a difficult update in a cancer journey she’s been documenting for nearly two years since first being diagnosed with melanoma in 2022.

Now, Mellencamp is sharing more about how she’s processing everything, including one social media comment that crossed a line. After Mellencamp posted a video update on her Instagram Stories, one fan replied with a message that, while likely intended to be sympathetic, ended up being anything but encouraging. “This is so heartbreaking.

Typically, stage four cancer is terminal especially with metastasis. Praying that Teddi heals and is an outlier,” the commenter wrote. Mellencamp responded directly.

“These kind of comments make me really sad,” she said. “I know people are trying to help but heartbreaking for me to read," Mellencamp added. "Of course I know the chances but I truly believe with my whole heart I will beat this and watch my kids graduate.

” The mom of three shares daughter Slate, 12, and sons Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5, with husband Edwin Arroyave. Since the latest development in her diagnosis, Mellencamp has continued with treatment, which has included radiation and immunotherapy. She’s also been open about the physical and emotional toll of living with a serious illness while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for her kids.

“There are some days (where) I think you’re allowed to say, ‘I don’t feel confident right now, I feel very uncomfortable, and I want to wear a wig,’” Mellencamp said in a recent interview. “And there are some days that I’m like, ‘It is what it is.’ Some days, I’m really sad and really scared, and some days, I’m like, ‘I got this; I’m not worried," she added.

She also revealed that she’s had to rethink how she talks to her children about her health. Mellencamp, who once reassured her kids on RHOBH by saying, “Moms always come back,” admitted she hasn’t used that phrase recently. “They all know that I’m fighting the hardest I possibly can, but I haven’t said (it) because I don’t want to lie to them.

And I don’t know.” Despite the uncertainty, she remains focused on hope and encouraging others to get regular skin checks. “I’m fighting for my life, but also for my family’s life and all the people I love,” she said.
