The 51-year-old singer, who was the subject of the recent movie Better Man , revealed that he was diagnosed with Scurvy while attempting to lose weight. Robbie said that he was using an appetite-suppressant drug, which led to a severe vitamin C deficiency.

The NHS says that Scurvy is “caused by not having enough vitamin C in your diet over a long period of time. Vitamin C is mainly found in fruit and vegetables. However, even people who do not eat very healthily all the time are not usually considered at risk of scurvy.
” Robbie told the Daily Mirror , “I’d stopped eating and I wasn’t getting nutrients.” He noted Scurvy is a “17th-century pirate disease.” “With body dysmorphia, when people say they’re worried about how you’re looking, you’re like, ‘I’ve achieved it,’” Robbie said.
“When people say, ‘We’re worried you’re too thin,’ that goes into my head as, ‘Jackpot. I’ve reached the promised land.’” Robbie has dealt with depression in the past, but it returned during this period.
“It’s been about ten years,” he said. “I thought I was at the other end of the arc . .
. and that I would just go walking into this marvelous wonderland. So for it to return was just confusing.
