Roanoke Rapids man sentenced to 10 years for 13 drug and gun charges

A Roanoke Rapids man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for 13 charges related to the sale of narcotics and possession of a firearm by convicted felon, federal prosecutors said.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) — A Roanoke Rapids man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for 13 charges related to the sale of narcotics and possession of a firearm by convicted felon, federal prosecutors said.

Danny Steven Bryant Jr., 33, pleaded guilty on Nov. 4, 2024, to nine drug-related charges and four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.



CRIME TRACKER — Sign up for CBS 17’s newsletter with the latest in local crimeAccording to federal prosecutors, the Nash County Sheriff's Office began investigating Bryant in June 2021 for narcotics and firearms sales in Nash County.The Nash County Sheriff's Office; the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Roanoke Rapids Police Department; and the Halifax County Sheriff's Office conducted multiple controlled purchases from Bryant from June 2021 through November 2021 for methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and several firearms, including one .223 AR-15 and two high capacity magazines capable of firing 100 rounds of ammunition, a .

22 caliber revolver, and two .38 caliber revolvers, according to federal prosecutors.Federal prosecutors said Bryant is a convicted felon with previous convictions for unlawful wounding and felon in possession of a firearm.
