WEEK OF APRIL 14-18

Grandview St, Monument Ave (Old Benn), Oakes St, Silver St. Please use caution when approaching areas where heavy equipment in use. between Branch St & Main St will be CLOSED ALL WEEK to through traffic while Highway crew begins drainage system work in this section of Gage Street.

Local (Street) residents will be accommodated. All other traffic please find an alternate route. Monday & Tuesday may be reduced to One-Lane in certain sections while Highway crew “ditches” the sides of the road (clearing runoff areas along the roadway).



Please use caution when approaching and expect minor delays. Bridge Crew will continue Washing Bridges across town in many areas all week. Please use caution when approaching, temporary lane restrictions may be in place during cleaning.

Men and large equipment will be on the edges or in the roadway. Grading of dirt roads across town will begin as well as Downtown Street Sweeping will continue Water Crew will be working in various areas of town conducting valve maintenance. This could mean frequent stops and men along the roadside.

Please use caution when approaching these areas. Next phase of Lead Service Line Replacements has begun. A Contractor will be working on service lines on the following streets over the next week (NOT in this order): Grandview St, Monument Ave (Old Benn), Oakes St, Silver St.

Use caution when approaching any of these areas and expect minor delays. Routine maintenance continues across the village and will include Park Spring Cleaning, Street Sweeping and Sidewalks. Please use caution when approaching any of these areas as men and equipment will be in or on edges of the roadway.

STATE PROJECT Roundabout Development The contractor planned to mobilize equipment etc to the project area during the week of Monday, April 14, to set up temporary traffic control signs and devices, install erosion prevention and sediment control measures and temporary lighting, establish a soil-staging area, and complete tree clearing. Work hours this construction season will be Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m.

to 5:30 p.m., with potential Saturday work if needed.

During the length of the overall project lane closures or restrictions will be required at different times along VT 67A, Silk Road, Matteson Road (Rice Lane), and College Drive with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Major construction activities are anticipated to begin this Spring, with a projected completion date of summer 2026. The contractor’s initial focus will be to construct all roadway approaches, including drainage and stormwater infrastructure, excavation, subbase, base course, bike path, sidewalk, curb, street lighting conduit and bases, and temporary pavement markings.

The VT 67A southern roadway approach will be constructed first, followed by the VT 67A northern approach. Next, crews will construct the Silk Road approach, which will require a short-term closure and detour, expected in early to mid-summer 2025. Subsequently, the Matteson Road and College Drive approaches will be constructed, also requiring short-term closures and detours, anticipated for mid-summer to early fall 2025.

All Work will be dependent on weather conditions. Please use caution when entering a construction zone, men and equipment will be in the traveled portion of the road. The Winter Overnight Parking Ban for all streets within the Town of Bennington was put into order on November 15th and remains in effect till April 15th between the hours of 2:00 a.

m. and 6:00 a.m.

NO overnight parking is allowed on the streets. Police will enforce this ban by ticketing individuals who leave unattended vehicles on the street during that time. Please DO NOT rake or blow leaves into Town streets or Highways as this will clog storm drains and create both flooding and driving hazards for the entire community.

Residents and Contractors - Please make sure ALL LOADS ARE COVERED when taking leaves and or brush to the Transfer Station. When disposing of leaf bags, you MUST empty the bags into the pile..
