The State Flood Prevention and Management Committee, which oversees the distribution, stated that the relief materials would be shared across all 23 Local Government Areas, including to non-indigenes residing in the state. Chairperson of the committee and Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Nma-Odu, explained that the decision to distribute the presidential palliatives was informed by the fact that flood-affected communities had previously received support from the state government.
Addressing journalists at the warehouse on Tuesday, Nma-Odu noted that some stakeholders had already taken their share of the palliatives. She expressed optimism that the relief materials would serve as additional support to residents, particularly as a Christmas palliative for communities and non-indigenes across the state. DAILY POST reports that the relief materials received include 2,700 bags of rice, 140 cartons of tomatoes, 170 treated mosquito nets, and other essential items.
