River Queens, Sabers compete at Lancers Girls Wrestling Tournament

Both the Clinton River Queens and the Central DeWitt Sabers were in action on Tuesday night at the North Scott Lancers girls wrestling tournament.

Both the Clinton River Queens and the Central DeWitt Sabers were in action on Tuesday night at the North Scott Lancers girls wrestling tournament. This tournament featured seven different teams as a sort of kickoff to the 2024-2025 season. With multiple divisions across every single weight class, there was a lot of wrestling done in the Pit at North Scott High School.

Clinton had a nice day that started at 100 pounds with Harper Determan taking third pace. At the 100 pound B division Brooklynn Morrow took second place. At 105 pounds Jaedyn Lemon won her first match of the day before losing the championship round to place second.



Akemah McClendon bounced back from Monday nights loss, picking up three wins, all by fall to dominate the 110 pound division. At the 110 pound B division, Clover Hicks placed third and MyTran Duong placed 4th for Clinton. Molly Steiner picked up a win at 115 pounds to place second while Avery Balof placed 3rd in the 115 pound B division.

Jharia Know placed second at the 115 pound C division and Emma Rodriguez placed second at the 115 pound D division. In the 120 pound B division Ava Determan ended in fourth place and at the 125 pound C division Alaina Carpenter was able to place first with two wins by fall. Chloe Ellis finished in third place at the 125 pound D division.

At 130 pounds Dorianna Hill ended in fourth place, winning one match on the day. Madisyn Halloran took third in the 135 pound C division while Lila Keister took third in the 135 pound D division. Tayvia McLoyd finished in third place at 140 pounds while Nayobie Brown took fourth in the 140 pound B division.

Bella Kessler also took fourth place, she was in the 140 pound C division. Clara Sims took third in 145 pound C division. Lauren Whitney continued her undefeated start to the year winning the 155 pound weight division.

Jadyn Morrow took third in that same division. Sophia Costello place second in the 155 pound B division with Marguerite Robbins taking fourth. Brianna Cuatlatl finished in third the 170 pound B division while Liv Lonergan stayed undefeated with two wins by fall to take first in the 170 pound C division.

Cambrie McLoyd improved to 4-0 on the season after two more wins at the 190 pound B division, winning by fall twice to place 1st for Clinton. Finally, Sophie Lippens placed third in the 235 pound C division to cap off a nice day for the River Queens. For Central DeWitt, Jacqueline Staub started the day with a first place finish in the 100 pound B division, winning both of her matches by fall.

Ava Staub placed third at 105 pounds and Kalli Barber fourth at 110 pounds. In the 110 pound B division Macy Poll finished second while Delaney Barber took first in the 115 pound B division. In the 115 pound C division Ella Taylor took third place.

Kallie Burzlaff went 3-0 at the 120 pound B division to place first while Grace Patterson took first at 125 pounds for the Sabers. Gracie Deen was second in the 125 pound D division and Madison Poll was third at 130 pounds. In the B division at 135 pounds, Nora McAvan took first with two wins while Delaney Kueter finished in second in the 135 pound C division.

Ella Bloom later finished in first in the 135 pound D division. Ashle Oronzio went 1-2 in the 140 pound B division to place third, followed by her teammate Carlee Garrity who took second in the 140 pound C division. Malanie Miller capped off the lower weights with a first place finish in the 145 pound B division.

Chelsea Kunde finished in fourth at 170 pounds while Serenity Roberts took third at 190 pounds. Kamryn Keester also took third in the 190 pound B division. Joellynn Dwinal placed third at 235 pounds before Blaire Kueter capped off the day for the Sabers with a second place finish at the 235 pound B division.

Both Clinton and Central DeWitt along with Camanche and Northeast will all be in action on Friday night at Bellevue..
