River ambulances at 7 prominent ghats

1 2 Prayagraj: To offer better health services to Maha Kumbh pilgrims and devotees, officials of the health department have decided to deploy seven river ambulances at seven prominent ghats, including Sangam Nose, to cater to the needs of patients. At every river ambulance, a medical officer, along with two pharmacists and two paramedical staff equipped with all necessary equipment and medicines, will be operational round the clock. They will be dealing particularly with drowning cases.

The medical and paramedical staff will refer seriously ill patients to the central hospital being set up at the parade area of the mela. In charge of the central hospital, Dr Gaurav Dubey told TOI, "Apart from advanced medical health facilities available at the central hospital of the mela campus, seven river ambulances and an air ambulance will also be available for devotees." Dr Dubey said, "River ambulances will have life-saving equipment and medicines.



" He added that river ambulances were first introduced in 2019 Kumbh, and after acknowledging their utility, the mela administration decided to deploy more river ambulances this Maha Kumbh.
