Filmmaker Prasanth Varma is reportedly working on the sequel to his hit film Hanu-Man. A report now suggests that actor Rishab Shetty has joined the cast of the sequel, titled Jai Hanuman. This news comes shortly after Prasanth said he would soon reveal the film’s cast.

The Telugu portal Aakashavaani shared this update on their official X handle, but there’s no official confirmation yet. The post on X read, “Rishab Shetty is most likely to do the lead role in Prasanth Varma’s most-awaited sequel, Jai Hanuman. Mythri Movie Makers are expected to produce the film (sic).

Prasanth Varma is also expected to cast a few Bollywood actors in Jai Hanuman. Hanu-Man was the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2024, making over Rs 300 crore. It stars Teja Sajja as a superhero and is part of Prasanth Varma’s Cinematic Universe (PVCU), which focuses on mythological superheroes.

Prasanth is also working on an untitled film about Lord Indra, featuring Mokshagna, son of actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. The film is still in its early stages. In a chat with HT, he had earlier said, “My interest in reading up Indian mythology pushed me to write these stories, to base my superheroes on Gods.

Because that’s something unique to us. If you have seen my first three films (Awe!, Kalki, Zombie Reddy), I’d never liked to repeat myself. But now that I’m stuck doing this, I might as well explore with the sub-genres of these stories”.

Hanu-Man is a 2024 Telugu superhero film directed by Prasanth Varma. The movie features Teja Sajja as the protagonist, Hanumanthu, who transforms into the superhero Hanu-Man. Inspired by Hindu mythology, the film is part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), which blends mythological elements with superhero narratives.

The movie, made on a modest budget of Rs 20-25 crore, went on to become a massive box-office success, grossing over Rs 300 crore globally..
