Everton battled hard to seal a solid point against Arsenal, but controversy took centre stage again. Arsenal took the lead on Saturday through Leandro Trossard before Iliman Ndiaye scored the equaliser at Goodison Park, as it finished 1-1. The goal came from the penalty spot after Myles Lewis-Skelly was deemed to have fouled Jack Harrison in the box, which has left some enraged.

The debate surrounding the decision in Everton’s favour has split both pundits and supporters, with questions being asked about whether there was enough contact.

While Everton are going to be pleased to take the point away, Troy Deeney has admitted he was not happy with the decision. Speaking live on talkSPORT (7 April, 8:36 am), Deeney said: “It’s getting ridiculous now. He [Lewis-Skelly] has no clue where Jack Harrison is.

“Again, let’s give the referee the benefit of the doubt. What’s his linesman doing? What’s his VAR doing? This whole culture now of every foul’s a yellow card, every foul’s a penalty. Sometimes it’s just a coming together, it happens.

Leave it alone.”Moyes has work to do despite Everton pointIt did seem like a soft penalty call, but Everton are not going to tell the referee they don’t want a penalty. While the Blues will be pleased to take a point against Arsenal, the performance certainly highlighted the work needed to be done by Moyes in the summer transfer window.

Moyes’ side struggled to create chances up until the point of the penalty in the game, and they didn’t show any clear signs of scoring, a story all too familiar this season. Beto has upped his levels since working under a new manager but still needs to nail down consistency having not scored in his last five games. AppearancesGoals236Beto’s Premier League form.

Meanwhile, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil have struggled to be fit throughout the season with Armando Broja also injured during his loan spell at Goodison. Ahead of what is likely to be a big transfer window for the Merseyside outfit, Moyes will be ready to add to his attacking options. This was expected, though, so there is no negativity, given the lack of funds that have been available in recent years for Sean Dyche, in particular.
