RHS Garden Bridgewater near Bolton has announced a busy schedule of events for spring and summer. The Spring Plant Fair returns on April 5 and 6, featuring a wide range of plants from northern nurseries, organised in collaboration with Plant Heritage North West. Early May Bank Holiday revellers can look forward to bonsai displays from the Manchester Bonsai Society, along with expert talks and demonstrations on bonsai care.
The weekend garden events continue through the summer, with the Pelargonium and Geranium Society Show on June 22, and the Sweet Pea Society Show on July 13 and 14. August 3 and 4 will host the Summer Bulbs Weekend, and the month closes with the Cactus and Succulent Show on August 31 and September 1. Both RHS members and non-members can attend the events for free, though garden admittance must be paid for non-members.
Tickets can be bought on the RHS Garden Bridgewater website. For those keen on learning more about gardening, the RHS Bridgewater team is organising free monthly Gardening Advice talks. These will take place on Wednesdays at 3pm and cover a variety of topics.
On April 24, there is ‘Wisteria Wisdom’, while ‘Secrets of Cacti and Succulent Success’ is on May 22. ‘Roses: Roots, Resilience, and Regrowth’ follows on June 26, and ‘Mastering the Magic of Japanese Maples’ on July 24. On August 28, they will explore ‘Horsetail and Ivy: Pioneers of Persistence’, and on September 25, the subject is ‘Fascinating Fronds: Hardy Ferns’.
