No matter where you are from, there is typically a divide between the “better off” and “less better off” areas in the region. There may be that one part of your town, city or county that seems posher than the rest. The Telegraph recently compiled a list of Britain’s 15 poshest towns.

There were various places listed across the country that the outlet described as “perfect locations for a getaway this spring”. 5 Perfect Spots for a Summer Staycation Nowhere from Sussex made the Telegraph's list , instead we asked our readers where in the county is the poshest. Here are some of the poshest towns and villages you suggested.



7 of the 'poshest' places in Sussex according to readers Steyning A view from Truleigh Hill on the South Downs over Steyning (Image: Nick Hawkes/Getty Images) This town in West Sussex is located at the north end of the River Adur gap in the South Downs. With three main pubs, as well as various restaurants and cafes, Visit Southeast England describes it as "one of the most picturesque towns in Sussex". It adds: "Steyning offers the visitor a fantastic selection of interesting shops, a monthly farmers market and ample free parking.

" Lewes Lewes (Image: Getty Images) This town in East Sussex was suggested by various readers as one of the poshest in the area. From Anne of Cleves' house to the Lewes Castle and Barbican House Museum there is plenty to visit there. Visit Lewes describes it as "a small town with a big heart", with "many independent, antique and quirky shops" and "historic pubs" to stop for a bite to eat or a drink.

Midhurst Midhurst (Image: Getty Images) This quaint market town in West Sussex was another suggested by a few of our readers. It has a number of activities on its annual calendar, from Glorious Goodwood to the Midhurst Farmers Market. Visit Midhurst says the town's "historic streets are home to a wealth of independent shops, cafés and eateries, making it a great place to spend a day with family or friends".

It is currently home to former clergyman-turned-TV personality Richard Coles, with Turner Prize-winning artist, writer and TV presenter Sir Grayson Perry also having a house there. Neighbouring village East Dean also has a claim to fame, with it being thought the village is where fictional detective Sherlock Holmes retired.

It adds: "The town has an excellent choice of places to eat, including The Broadway, a honey-pot of restaurants, bistros and wine bars, offering something for all tastes and a great place to watch the world go by. "Shoppers can find a wide variety of shops in and around the pedestrianised Orchards Shopping Centre.

" Arundel Arundel (Image: Getty Images) A market town in the Arun District of the South Downs, this much-conserved town has a medieval castle and Roman Catholic cathedral. Visit Arundel says the town "captures the essence of heritage, urban chic and country pursuits". With a number of independent shops, restaurants, attractions, and walking spots, there is something for everyone.
