Accusing his predecessor K. Chandrasekhar Rao of neglecting Palamuru district from where he was once elected MP, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday gave an assurance to the people of the district that the Congress government would bring Krishna water by finishing Kodangal-Narayanpet lift irrigation project to encourage the farm sector while providing infrastructure to make the district a industrial hub.
He said that if Opposition parties bore any grudge against him, they could oppose him politically but not by stalling projects and thereby obstructing the development of Mahbubnagar district. "The reason for non-completion of projects earmarked for Palamuru district is the negligence of the previous rulers. Even after ten years of Telangana, migration continues.
KCR was elected to the Lok Sabha promising to develop the district. After being elected MP and despite being the Chief Minister for ten years, KCR neglected Mahbubnagar district," Revanth Reddy said. “The people will not forgive those who try to obstruct development,” Revanth Reddy was speaking while on a visit to Kurumurthy Swamy temple where he offered prayers along with ministers Damodar Rajanarsimha and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
Later, he laid a foundation stone for the construction of a ghat road for the temple and elevation of the stretch. He said that the Kurumurthy Swamy temple was as famous as Venkateshwara Swamy temple at Tirupati. Apart from Telangana, devotees also come here to offer prayers here from Karnataka.
“Concerned by the difficulties faced by devotees, we have initiated the construction of a ghat road and elevated corridor at a cost of `110 crore. Officials have been directed to prepare estimates for the development programmes of the temple and submit a report,” he said. Revanth Reddy said that the Congress government would complete the Narayanpet-Kodangal irrigation project and bring Krishna water to Makthal, Nagarkurnool and Kodangal to help farmers.
He alleged that some people are making accusations and trying to play petty politics to block the government’s efforts. “As a person belonging to this district, history would not forgive me if I do not complete the irrigation projects. No matter where I am, I wish for the development of this district," Reddy said.
The Chief Minister further said that Amara Raja Batteries has agreed to give skill training and jobs to 2,000 local unemployed persons in their unit here. The government would also provide basic facilities such as infrastructure and invite businessmen to set up more industries so that thousands of jobs can be created for the local youth, he said..
