Actress Anna Samson has shared the significant differences in the BBC spin-off show Return to Paradise ahead of the brand new series. The 34-year-old appeared on Morning Live on Monday, November 19, via video link to discuss the differences with the Australian version of Return to Paradise, which is a branch from the original detective series Death in Paradise. Filmed in Australia, Morning Live presenters Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones wanted to find out whether it was glamorous on set.
But Anna was quick to shut their illusions down by bluntly saying, "No." She continued: "No, it's It's not that glamourous, you know shooting is a lot of hard work, and I'm set quite a lot in this show, so it's a decent amount of hard slog. She went on to add: "Also, it looks warmer and sunnier than it is.
You know, it's the magic of television. We were on the coast of New South Wales, it's very windy. "And another departure from the original show is that this detective has quite long hair, so the wind was not our friend and you know when you're shooting a show, continuity is important.
" Tugging at her brunette strands, she said: "You can't have this bit of hair up here for one shot and down here for another, so yeah we were kind of battling the tempestuous weather quite a lot. Return to Paradise will follow DI Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson), an Australian ex-pat who's made quite a name for herself in London’s Metropolitan Police for cracking seemingly unsolvable murder cases. However, when she is accused of tampering with evidence while in the London met, Mackenzie returns to Australia, the last place she ever wanted to be, which is her hometown of Dolphin Cove.
Having fled the town six years ago, infamously leaving her ex-fiancée Glenn at the altar, Mackenzie doesn't really receive a warm welcome. This is evident in the opening scenes of the new series, which sees her being thrown out of her cab once the driver recognises who she is and the reason for her departure. Return to Paradise airs Friday 22 November at 8pm on BBC One.
