Restaurant and lounge could be turned into new homes

A restaurant in Barking Road, East Ham could be replaced with three new flats in a new planning application to Newham Council.

Newham Council-owned housing company Populo Living has applied to bring three new flats to the ground floor of the Town Hall Annexe in Barking Road. The site occupies a corner plot on the main road and the corner of Wellington Road. The proposal follows the company's development of The Didsbury, which comprises of 37 new-build apartments inside the original 1939 Town Hall Annexe.

The amenities would be replaced with the three-bed apartments, which are estimated to span 63.3 square metres per home.



According to documents accompanying Populo Living's application, work would get underway in January 2025 and complete by April 2025 if approved..
