THE Swire Shipping Fijian Drua side is sharpening its game plan as they prepare to face the Crusaders this Saturday in a Super Rugby Pacific match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. With both teams coming off disappointing losses, Drua falling 15-52 to the Western Force and the Crusaders suffering a shock defeat to Moana Pasifika in Saturday’s game carries added significance.Drua head coach Glen Jackson highlighted that ball security, breakdown efficiency, and discipline will be crucial in determining the outcome.

“If we look after our ball and deliver quick, clean possession, we can play the style of rugby we want to. The breakdown, scrum, line-out, and kicking game are all areas we’re focusing on,” Jackson said.Despite the Crusaders’ struggles this season, Jackson expects them to come into the match highly motivated after their loss.

“They’ll be fired up, and that makes them even more dangerous. We need to bring physicality and intensity from the first whistle,” he added. With few home games remaining in the season, the Drua understand the importance of capitalizing on their Suva advantage.

Jackson believes that a strong performance against the Crusaders could reignite their season and set them up for a push towards the playoffs.“The morale in camp has lifted, and the boys are eager to perform in front of their home crowd. We know the stakes, and we’re ready for the challenge,” he said.

Coming off a bye week, Jackson mentioned the team had used the break to reset and refine key aspects of their play.“We had a big hit-out on Saturday morning to shake off the travel fatigue, followed by a high-intensity session on Monday and a speed session on Tuesday,” Jackson said.“It’s all about ensuring we’re sharp and ready for a tough challenge against a quality Crusaders side.

”The match kicks off at 3.35pm.The post Reset mode | Drua focuses on ball security, breakdown efficiency appeared first on The Fiji Times.
