
MELAKA: The Civil Defence Force rescued a stranded dolphin at the banks of the Melaka River near Banda Hilir this afternoon.Members of the public spotted the dolphin and alerted the Civil Defence Force upon realising it was still alive. The dolphin had become trapped due to the low tide.
Melaka Tengah Civil Defence Force officer Captain Aljibin Suddin said they received a distress call at 1.36pm and rushed to the location.Using a winch, the team towed the dolphin into deeper waters.
"The dolphin was then handed over to a private boat operator who assisted in moving and releasing it into the open sea," he said when contacted.The operation concluded at 3.23pm with the dolphin's release.
