By Itodo Daniel Sule The House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets has invited the Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority (FAAN), Mrs Bunmi Kuku over alleged irregularities in the operations of the agency’s partners in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. The committee noted that despite the expiration of lease, concession agreements of some companies with FAAN, they continue to operate without any legal terms and evidence of payment to the concession account. Chairman of the House Committee on Public Assets, Ademorin Kuye, said the committee took the steps to carry out an investigation in the aviation industry in line with the committee’s mandate and public’s concern over alleged abuses of PPP arrangement.

The committee, during its meeting, directed FAAN’s Managing Director, Kuku to furnish the secretariat all the necessary documents regarding leases and concessions agreements with its partners on or before Thursday, 6th March 2025. The committee also mandated the managing director of FAAN and its management team to appear before it. According to the committee, some of the companies whose concessions have expired but are still operating include NAHCO, which was concessioned to operate as a handling company in all airports in Nigeria but has expired since December 2017.



Others include Infra Oil Ltd, leased for petrol station, Enugu but expired since November 2023; Jasmine Gardens, lease for recreational garden, Benin, but expired since April 2024; Sahara Energy Resources Ltd, lease for construction and operation of aviation fuel depot, Calabar, Owerri and Port Harcourt expired since June 2024 (Calabar and Owerri) while that of Port Harcourt expired in March 2023.
