REPORT: Police Arrest Man After Good Samaritan Allegedly Overheard Him Threatening To Shoot Trump Before Rally

Penn State University Police reportedly arrested a Pennsylvania man Friday after an employee at the Penn State Transportation Office allegedly overheard him threatening to shoot Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump before a weekend rally. While attempting to buy a parking pass, Paul Gavenonis allegedly spoke about climbing on top of a tall building during Trump’s Saturday rally at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center, FOX43 reported. A concerned worker told authorities that the 74-year-old began talking about using a gun to take down the GOP nominee, Penn State University Police said.

S. Secret Service agents and law enforcement confronted Gavenonis about his alleged threats, which he initially brushed aside, the outlet reported. “Look at me — I’m not gonna shoot anybody,” Gavenonis said before allegedly confessing that he was “probably” threatening Trump.

Gavenonis also brought up that he owns a rifle in his home, charging documents said, FOX43 reported. Gavenonis faces misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct, according to the outlet.

Trump was grazed in the ear by 20-year-old alleged gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks’ bullet at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. Despite blood pouring from his wound, the Republican nominee could be seen standing after he was struck , pounding his fist and shouting “Fight!” A second assassination attempt occurred in September. The Secret Service apprehended Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, after they allegedly saw his AK-47-style firearm’s barrel pointed at Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida.
