Renault's high-performance Macan EV rival spied

Alpine's newest model has been spied testing on public roads, with the A390 to be the performance brand's first SUV.

Renault's performance brand is gearing up to launch one of its largest production cars yet, an electric crossover set to be called the . or signup to continue reading The new model has been spied testing in Europe ahead of next month's Paris motor show, where Alpine is debuting a concept that'll preview the vehicle. The A390 is the second new model Alpine is introducing as part of its switch to an all-electric lineup, following the reveal of the electric hot hatch in June this year.

While that car is a hotter version of the new Renault 5, the A390 is a completely new vehicle with a fastback body aimed squarely at the new electric . . The A390 is expected to be built upon the same CMF-EV platform that underpins the , and it's previously been referred to as a C-segment SUV – the European designation for the mid-sized SUV segment.



The electric SUV will reportedly have up to 450kW of power in its top-spec version, delivered via two electric motors on the rear axle and one on the front. Lower-spec versions will reportedly produce around 300kW. The A390 will reportedly offer electric range of up to 600km.

For context, the Macan produces a maximum 470kW of power in its most expensive Turbo variant, with the base model producing 265kW. Claimed range is up to 654km based on ADR 81/02 testing. Though it's heavily camouflaged, we can make out flush door handles for the front, while the rear doors are accessible via handles hidden in the C-pillars.

Up front, there's a split headlight setup, while down back there's a thin, full-width light bar – both design cues being very fashionable at the moment. Alpine's new crossover is expected to debut in production guise sometime during 2025, and will be built in France.
