Remembrance Day 2024 in photographs as Bolton honours the country's war heroes

Services to honour the fallen were held throughout Bolton today as people gathered for Remembrance Sunday.

Services to honour the fallen were held throughout Bolton today as people gathered for Remembrance Sunday. People stopped in Victoria Square, Bolton town centre, as they did across the borough , to lay wreaths at the war memorials and take part in a two minute silence to remember those who had made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Andy Morgan, himself a veteran, said: "Today has been one of the proudest days of my 'military' life.

"Thank you also to the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, for choosing to attend Bolton’s Parade. "I would also like to thank my regiment, the Army Air Corps, and all my mates that joined with me for shaping me and making me the person I am today.



" Tomorrow, people are invited for the Armistice Day service from 10.50am on Victoria Square, alongside Cllr Morgan, and Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Diane Hawkins. The service will be led by the Vicar of Bolton and will include a two-minute silence and maroon fire.
