NEWS DELHI: In another diplomatic spat with Bangladesh, India registered a strong protest with Dhaka over remarks by a key aide of the interim govt, Mahfuz Alam, in which he had said India should recognise the uprising that forced former PM Sheikh Hasina to resign. In a social media post, which he later deleted, Alam had also claimed that certain Indian territories should be a part of Bangladesh. "We understand that the post being referred to has reportedly been taken down.
We would like to remind all concerned to be mindful of their public comments," said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, responding to queries about Alam's remarks. "While India has repeatedly signalled interest in fostering relations with the people and the interim govt of Bangladesh, such comments underline the need for responsibility in public articulation," he added.
