Fourth District to hold scholarship gala and annual session The Fourth District Missionary Baptist Association will host its scholarship gala and annual session Monday-Wednesday in Baton Rouge. The scholarship gala will open the three-day event at 7 p.m.
on Monday at the Renaissance Hotel, 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd. The keynote speaker will be Frederick D. Haynes III, pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas.
Music will be provided by the award-winning gospel choir Arthur and Friends. The gala, themed “Brighter Minds in Brighter Times” (Daniel 1:20), serves as a fundraiser for Fourth District students heading to college. "We are investing in these youths in our communities and they are the best and brightest,” said Doris Brown, chairperson of the scholarship gala committee.
“They have the wisdom and the understanding to continue to work in our churches and communities that will take us to the next level.” The annual session will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday at Mount Zion First Baptist Church, 356 T.J.
Jemison Blvd. With the theme “Reschooling the Post-COVID Church” (Exodus 1:8), Tuesday’s speakers include Valencia Allen at 6 p.m.
, Audrey O’Conner at 6:30 p.m., and the Rev.
Derrick Williams at 7 p.m. President’s Night with the Rev.
René F. Brown will take place at 7 p.m.
