The project will establish 500 CBG plants, starting with a facility in Kanigiri. Annually, it aims to produce 40 lakh tonnes of clean CBG and 1.1 million metric tonnes of organic fertilizer, while creating 250,000 jobs.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), India’s largest private-sector company, has announced a significant investment in sustainable energy with its Rs 65,000 crore Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) project in Andhra Pradesh. The initiative aims to set up 500 CBG plants across the state, with the first facility’s foundation stone laid in Kanigiri, Prakasam district, by state IT & Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday. The total investment of Rs 65,000 crore will be rolled out across multiple plants, reinforcing India's commitment to clean energy and circular economy principles. Reliance Industries stated in an exchange filing, "The project will result in significant livelihood opportunities for the rural economy through lease revenues to farmers and a fixed price for the grass grown by them."
