Rekha orders formation of public committees for better feedback

New Delhi: In a move aimed at enhancing public participation and accountability in governance, CM Rekha Gupta has directed the formation of Jan Samitis ( public committees ) at district level across the city. The committees would be tasked with collecting regular feedback from citizens on a range of civic and policy issues, said a source. A senior govt official said police were told to form the committee with people from eminent backgrounds as well as market associations, and RWAs would be part of it.

He said the committees would give suggestions, and based on the feedback, a report would be given to CM. He said CM would hold regular meetings in which this feedback would be reviewed to understand the problems faced by people related to law and order. "These suggestions would be further implemented by police as well as district administration," he said.



Meanwhile, Gupta on Sunday attended the foundation day of Ganga Ram Hospital, where she announced plans to develop Delhi as a health tourism hub, stating that Delhi govt will strengthen health services to attract patients from across the globe. "Healthy Delhi is the foundation of a self-reliant India, and they are working in this direction. Institutions that treat healthcare as a mission, not just a service, are crucial, and govt is committed to providing all possible support to such institutions at the level of policy, resources, and structure," she said.

Emphasising the need to promote health tourism in Delhi , she said, "We aim to make Delhi a global destination for medical treatment. Promoting health tourism will not only enhance medical services but will also strengthen the economic ecosystem. Delhi govt is continuously working to reform and expand the healthcare sector.

" She said govt was continuously working towards improvement and inclusions in the health sector. This year, along with the allocation of a budget of 12,893 crores to improve health services, it took steps for many basic facilities. An amount of 2,144 crore was allocated for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana , along with concrete steps towards the construction of 24 new hospitals in the capital.

In addition, more than 16,000 new beds and 400 health and wellness centres and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs would be established, she added..
