Region A Powder Keg, Israel Fueling Tensions: Iran’s Foreign Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned about the Zionist regime’s attempts to stir up tensions in the region, which he likened to a powder keg that may jeopardize world peace.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Istanbul on Saturday, Araqchi said they have held extensive talks about regional developments. He said Iran and Turkey believe that the Israeli crimes against Gaza and Lebanon must end immediately and all countries should employ every tool to halt the Zionist regime’s war machine. The continuation of the Israeli regime’s atrocities and its plans for the spread of war to the whole region are not acceptable to anyone, Araqchi added.

“The region has turned into a powder keg that could jeopardize world peace. Nobody favors war and escalation of tensions except the Zionist regime,” the Iranian foreign minister said. Denouncing Israel as the biggest threat to the world, Araqchi bemoaned the fact that the UN Security Council is unable to contain the Israeli crimes and that the US’ support has emboldened the Tel Aviv regime prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The Israeli regime knows no boundaries in violating human rights,” he stated, reiterating Iran and Turkey’s emphasis on an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon. He also noted that Tehran and Ankara share common goals, as the two neighbors continue to strengthen consultations to remove the obstacles to mutual cooperation. The top Iranian diplomat arrived in Turkey on Friday to take part in a ministerial meeting of the 3+3 format about the Caucasus.
