Reform's ex-Welsh spokesman confirms he won't be standing for Senedd

Oliver Lewis not be competing in next year’s Senedd election and has stood down from his role as Reform’s spokesperson in Wales.

The Reform runner up in last year’s General Election has confirmed he has no plans to stand in next year’s Senedd election. Oliver Lewis who finished up as runner up to current Montgomeryshire MP Steve Witherden in has said he has “not committed to participating in the next Senedd race” as he is currently studying abroad. Mr Lewis, who lives in , has run for office several times in the last few years standing for Montgomeryshire's Senedd seat with Reform in 2021, for MP at the general election in 2024 and for seats on Powys County Council.

However he has confirmed that he will not be competing in next year’s Senedd election and that he has stood down from his role as Reform’s spokesperson in Wales. “Owing to work commitments overseas, where I teach for a French university as part of the research for my Doctorate, I am not in the UK for any significant length of time until the end of July and as such am therefore no longer covering spokesperson duties,” said Mr Lewis. “A full-time and paid communications head for Reform in Wales has also recently been appointed.



” This comes after a recent social media post by the Conservatives which attacked a comment from regarding immigration in Wales and incorrectly labelled him the “declared Reform UK Senedd candidate in Wales”. 👇 “Whilst the Conservatives have stated publicly that I am a confirmed candidate for the Senedd elections this is simply incorrect since our party has not yet selected any candidates for the 2026 contest,” said Mr Lewis. “I have also taken the recent decision to re-train for a career in law which means I am not committed to participating in the next Senedd race given the necessary time commitments for sitting the Bar exams. “I continue to believe fervently in our movement as we seek answers and solutions for addressing the very many challenges our economy and society face, both in Montgomeryshire and across the UK’.
