Reese Witherspoon has a fun surprise for Legally Blonde fans: a first look at Lexi Minetree as a younger Elle Woods! That's right: "Our new series, Elle , is now in production," the executive producer revealed on Instagram . Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film. Prime Video announced at its 2024 upfront presentation that it ordered the prequel series from Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine.

In February, Minetree posted a video of Witherspoon telling her the casting news: "We just wanted to tell you that you don't have to audition anymore because you got the part.
You're Elle Woods." They also called Minetree's mom to share the good news. In the caption, the actress writes , "And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Reese Witherspoon for handing me down Elle Woods.
