The Boston Red Sox are taking on the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night at Tropicana Field for the third and final game of the three-game series. However, before first pitch, Boston announced a pair of roster moves, as they activated right-handed reliever Lucas Sims from the injured list and optioned left-handed reliever Bailey Horn back to Triple-A Worcester to make room. The Red Sox acquired Sims at the trade deadline in a deal with the Cincinnati Reds for 19-year-old pitching prospect.
Before landing on the injured list with a lat strain in August, Sims appeared in 11 games, posting an 8.10 ERA and a 1.600 WHIP.
Boston bought Horn's contract from the Chicago White Sox back in April, and he's been back and forth between Triple-A and the big league club throughout the year. The 26-year-old has appeared in 18 games for the Red Sox this year, posting a 6.50 ERA and 1.
