HOUSTON — Low humidity and high winds are creating an increased fire risk across a good portion of the Texas Saturday, including much of the Houston area. That's why the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning that lasts from noon until 9 p.m.

. The Houston Fire Department said the following conditions are creating the increased fire risk: Included in the Red Flag Warning are Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Brazoria, parts of Galveston, Waller, Wharton, Matagorda, Colorado, Grimes, Austin, Jackson and Washington counties. As the warning goes into place, HFD is urging residents to take the following precautions to limit fire risk: "Whether a contractor at a job site or a homeowner working in the yard, everyone should take extra care this weekend to avoid sparking a fire," said Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz.
