Two drone shows in China have broken Guinness World Records. On 4 September, the record for the ‘largest image of a light source formed by a drone’ was set when 7,998 drones flew over the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center. The following day, 8,100 drones took to the sky over Shenzhen, setting the record for ‘the largest number of drones flying simultaneously.

The drones, which were manufactured by Shenzhen HighGreat Innovation Technology Development Company, performed an 18-minute show created by the lighting designer behind the Paris Olympics. On 12 September 12, Elon Musk retweeted a video showcasing the drone light performances on X. Impressive pic.
