Record entries for Settle photographic group's annual contest

A STUNNING view of the Dales is this year's winner in Settle Photographic Group's annual competition.

Peter Robinson's 'lane to Smearsett Scar' was the winner in the print section, and another of his pictures was placed second, while Graham Wood's picture of a cliff-top lunch was placed first in the digital section of the competition. Max Malisan, of Otley Camera Club and a judge for the Yorkshire Photographic Union, was given the task of choosing winners from a record 49 entries. Members submitted 10 print images and 39 digital images, with each allowed a maximum of two.

A spokesperson for the photographic group said: "Max provided very constructive and insightful comments on each image. This year there was a record number of entries and Max expertly handled the difficult task of selecting the winners in each category." Print winners: 1 - Peter Robinson, lane to Smearsett Scar; 2 - Peter Robinson, Staircase at de la Warr Pavilion; 3- Frosty walk by Paul Higgins.
