He batted when Delhi was at 77/2, following the dismissals of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. However, Kohli struggled and was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar after scoring 14 runs off 19 balls. Delhi posted a total of 235 runs, while Uttar Pradesh (UP) responded with a strong first innings score of 403, led by Mukul Dagar’s 116 and Mohammad Kaif’s 91, giving them a lead of 168 runs.

In their second innings, Delhi could only secure a lead of 154 runs, which ultimately resulted in UP losing the match by six wickets. Kohli made 43 runs in the second innings before being dismissed by Bhuvneshwar once more. After a gap of 12 years, he aims to make his return to the Ranji Trophy noteworthy by achieving a significant score.
