The No. 17 Colorado Buffaloes are thriving and now find themselves tied for first place in the Big 12, silencing critics and doubters who have questioned their legitimacy since Deion Sanders took over last season. Many believed the Buffaloes were receiving too much media attention, that they weren't as good as the hype suggested.

But Colorado has proven them wrong. Now sitting at 8-2, the Buffaloes are expected to rise in the updated College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night after their dominant win over Utah on Saturday. They have a strong chance to play for the Big 12 title and could even secure a spot in the 12-team playoff.

Following the victory, Rece Davis , speaking on the “ College GameDay ” podcast, shared his strong opinion about the Buffaloes, Shedeur Sanders , and Travis Hunter . ““I think the best team in the Big 12 is Colorado. It’s not because they’re deeper than everybody else, but because they’ve got more difference-makers than anyone else, and they’ve got a quarterback,” Davis said.

“Travis Hunter is ridiculous. They throw it to him, he catches it; they ask him to pass it, and when it’s not open, he’s savvy enough to just run it. He’s a phenomenal athlete.

Right now, they’re the best team in the Big 12.” The Colorado Buffaloes have accomplished remarkable feats this season under the leadership of Deion Sanders. For the first time since 2020, they are bowl eligible and are looking to end a 20-year drought, with their last bowl victory coming in 2004.

Sanders has revitalized a program that went 1-11 the year before he took over, followed that up with a 4-8 season last year, and now sits at 8-2 with two games remaining. They have a legitimate shot at reaching double-digit wins, and they currently boast what many consider to be the Heisman frontrunner in Travis Hunter, who has been nothing short of spectacular playing on both sides of the football, while logging over 90% of the team's snaps. This week, Colorado faces a tough challenge as they travel to take on a surging Arizona State Sun Devils team, which is also in the hunt for a spot in the Big 12 Championship as the season winds down. Related: Paul Finebaum Names College Football Head Coach in a 'Really Bad Spot' After Week 12.
