The reason for why Sophie Ellis-Bextor was filming in Brighton has been revealed. In early March, a section of the Palace Pier was sectioned off from the public while filming took place and residents spotted the pop star, who is perhaps best known for her hit Murder on the Dancefloor. Online clothing retailer Freemans has now revealed it was behind the filming, which was for its first TV ad of the summer season, showcasing its new collections on and around the pier and Brighton beach.

After catching some rays on sun loungers in front of the beach huts, the Groovejet singer finishes with a stroll along the pebbles, all to the sound of her 2024 hit Freedom of the Night. The 46-year-old said: “To me, this ad is bottled sunshine. Summer is all about living lightly – from clothes to make-up to accessories to that joyful feeling in your heart when the sun shines.
"Freemans wanted to capture that feeling of fun and as you can see from the smiles on all our faces, we did it.
